Brian Naimodu

John Ruggie Fellow, Africa

As a John Ruggie fellow based in Nairobi, Mr. Naimodu accompanies communities in the African region to secure their environmental and human rights when negatively impacted by international investments. He recently completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Laws programme at Kenyatta University with an interest in community justice and advocacy. With a strong foundation in legal and policy research, Mr. Naimodu assists in documenting community concerns, drafting legal memoranda, case briefs and engaging with stakeholders to promote transparency and redress for communities in the African region.

As a passionate legal professional with a focus on international human rights law, environmental law, and investment law, Mr. Naimodu brings sharp legal and analytical skills. He has previously worked with communities impacted by internationally financed projects in Kenya to redress their grievances including in Isiolo county, showing a commitment to
community-driven solutions.

Since 2023, Mr. Naimodu has been an accredited mediator with Devlui Mediation & ADR hub, a member of the Mediation Trainers Association (MTA), and has undertaken a data protection course at the Center for Intellectual Property and Information technology (CIPIT). Brian Naimodu is passionate about human rights and firmly believes in community
empowerment.
