Khimti-Dhalkebar transmission line construction resumes
Construction of Khimti-Dhalkabar transmission line in Sindhuli section resumed after years of obstruction by locals.
Work on the transmission line started at Thulitar of Kamalamai Municipality of Sindhuli district from yesterday. The project has started digging pits to install high tension poles.
Following government order, the project has resumed work with help from the local administration.
It is said locals of the municipality had been obstructing construction for the last four years demanding compensation. They said that the project has to leave five metres land on each side of the poles as the line would destroy their lands.
The agreement for project construction was reached in 2002 and the project had started work in 2006. The project has to be completed by 2011, but obstruction by locals has delayed the project.
Construction work started after CDO Tara Bahadur Karki assured the locals that the state would address their demands.
Meanwhile, project Chief Engineer Shyam Yadav said the project would be completed within six months if there was no obstructions.
As much as 90 per cent work has already been completed.
